The Shasta County Beef Ambassador Competition was started in 1992. It is part of
the National Beef Ambassador Programs, which is sponsored by the American
National CattleWomen in cooperation with the Cattlemen’s Beef Board. The program
is designed to train youth advocates in the Beef industry. Ages for Jr. are 12 to 16
and ages for Sr. are 17-20. While preparing for competition, the contestants will
learn about the nutritional and economic value of beef, environmental aspects of
raising beef, food safety, beef by-products, as well as the versatility of beef.
